Cant get Logic Pro X to midi trigger MPC 2KXL in song mode.

I'm trying to track out of the 2KXL to logic pro x using midi from logic to trigger the MPC. It works fine on individual sequences but not a song. Logic also won't trigger the MPC if I convert the song to a sequence, It will skip to the last bar and sit there. If the MPC is in song mode, when Logic triggers, the MPC goes to the "End of Song". Even if I put loop on it just sits there. I guess it is triggering, just not exactly what I want it to do. What could I be overlooking?
