MPC 2000 Storage options

What are people using as storage "upgrades" these days on the 2k classic? I'm rocking floppies, and want to upgrade but everything I read about seems like it requires a bunch of extra fuss, not just to install, I'm cool with doing that work that, but during operation as well. I want something hot swappable that I don't have to worry too much about media compatibility (certain brands of CF or SD cards not working) or using too much extra software to create partitions like on the GOTEK floppy simulators.
Right now I'm thinking SD readers like this one:

or an MO drive.
Y'all have any advice? I just want a little more storage so I'm not saving my beats across multiple disks so damn much.

There are tons of similar topics in this sub forum. Search, and I am sure you'll find some answers. I don't have nor have I used a 2k or 2kxl, so unfortunately I cannot give you any other further advice.

Yeah. I searched. There's a lot of stuff from a few years ago, most of the recent posts seem to be pointing me to MO drives.

if that scsi2sd box works with the 2000, that is awesome. i suggest that over MO drives.... stuff like MO disks are getting harder to find these days. I feel ya though, i still have floppy on my 2000 too.

Yeah, I've seen a newer youtube series with a guy that uses one. I think it's the one from MPC stuff but this company inertial computing advertises them as being for samplers.

Will plug directly to the back of the MPC 2000 without additional cables.

As for the video - That one sold at mpcstuff was an earlier design by a person in Japan "artmix" that made SCSI card reader devices such as the raizinmonster, etc.

Artmix has since stolen the open source design for the SCSI2SD (as well as the actual firmware) and repackaged it as a "new version" of the *monster series. It makes no sense to support that person when you can get the link I listed above for way cheaper and have actual support from the actual SCSI2SD designer as well.

First thing I notice when using a card reader on the 2000 is that as soon as I turn it on, no loading time for the operating system.

Update:
So I got the SCSI2SD v5.5 drive from Inertial Computing and it works perfectly right out of the box.

I did have to replace the burned out stock SCSI fuse in my MPC, but that took about 10 minutes. I installed a glass fuse holder so I can swap it out easy if I blow it again.

After I fixed that, I plugged the thing in with an 8gb sandisk micro sd and formatted it from the MPC disk menu. It created 8 partitions in the card.
Now I just have to figure out how to efficiently organize my samples and other files in those 1g spaces without any folder capabilities.
But yeah, its basically plug and play.

yeah sometimes the fuse gets blown by plugging or unplugging scsi devices while the mpc is powered on. i have to admit, i don't really like the 8 partitions, would be nice if you could add the other 18 onto there.

make sure you give your samples all unique names on each beat, and when you save the sequences and songs as well as the programs and sounds files.... make sure you name them and don't leave them stock.

I ordered the SCSI2SD 5.5 from Amigakit here in Europe, I can't wait to try it on my 2000 classic.

Glad to hear it's working out for you.

Regarding a the fuse, not sure why you went with a glass fuse over a reset-able fuse that you'd never have to think about again.

Either way, as long as it works for you then great.

I think it's how he formatted (or explained it) that is causing a bit of confusion.

Keep in mind that the SCSI2SD can emulate multiple SCSI ID's and within each id (virutal scsi drive) you're going to have your Akai partitions as well.
