LCD Screen Problem, how or where can I get it fixed!!!

I have an MPC 2000 and I've heard horror stories that the screen goes out or some of the grid lines would go out. I always turned it off when I wasn't using it, but a line went out on my sh-t! Is it true that the only way to fix it is to send it to AKAI or can I replace it myself. I know this has happened to some of ya'll....suggestions and help greatly appreciated!

Forat Music in L.A. (www.forat.com) might be able to do the repair for you. Call or email them to ask. They do custom work on MPCs and other drum machines. They did a mod on my Linndrum, and they did all the work and sent it back to me within a week.
