sequence loading problem!!

My keyboard and mpc are hooked up through midi. After I save the sequence with the midi tracks, when I try to load the sequence only the drum tracks play and not the midi recorded tracks. Why? How come it won't play the midi tracks without the midi cables hooked up? Hit me up with some info please. thanx!!

The midi cables should always stay connected when using external sound modules/keyboards with the MPC. The cables enable the different pieces of equipment to communicate with one another. If the cables are not connected; how can the MPC tell the module/keyboard what note to play/for how long/etc...

BTW The outputs of each piece of equipment should be connected to a mixer.

yo but the thing is gambles..is that i need to save the midi tracks on disk so i can take it to the studio and load them up to put on a comp program like protools or something like it. Does that mean i have to take my keyboard along with the mpc?

once they are loaded in a computer you could patch them through to soft snyths, i do this all the time to patch midi drums from my mpc into reason. you can do the same with synths. if you really like a particular sound on your keyboard i wouuld bring it as well as the sequences. ask the studio you are going to, they probably have some better synths around anyways.

If you want the same sounds as your keyboard & the studio does not have the same keyboard, yes. If you can substitute the sounds with that of soft synths then you can search for similar sounds.

I'm using the Roland xp-60. I need a sound module though. What you think is the best sound module to get? whats best? I don't want the same sounds as the roland..

you can always record the tracks individually to a midi sequencing program capable of audio like Logic, Sonar or Nuendo. Once the tracks are in the computer in the form of audio files, the midi module is no longer needed. Just dump the individual tracks onto a CD-R and take it with you to the studio. Make sure that the midi tracks are EXACTLY the way you want 'em before you dump them because if you wanna make changes later (in the studio) you're screwed.

yeah but if you are going to a studio with protools, they probably have better means of getting a better signal when tracking the stuff.

It's just a matter of personal taste. I don't know exactly what sounds do it for you, but if the studio/location you are going to has any modules/keyboards/soft synths you can try out a few patches.

You can always go to Guitar Center and test out different modules & keyboards. That way you can decided for yourself what is better for your set up.
