wrong file format

wats up

i dug up some old zip discs that i made on an MPC2000xl - right about at the time the 2000xl first hit the market.

i havent touched the zip discs since then and NOW when i pop the zip in my XL - it reads the .SND names, but will not load them ´wrong file format´

whats up with that. did i possibly make the samples with an older version of the OS? or does my XL have mpc hiv.

any body got experinece with this?

The disk might be bad. How was it stored? In a humid place, near magnets or what? Again ,maybe the disk is bad..

i can load other sounds from the same disc... which had been saved with a different machine at a different time. so i dont think its the disc, per se

is there a virus in MPC world? or maybe i was using the original XL OS which i think i remmember had some problems....

sucks cuz i have samples whose names i can see but cant open. (and the DAT i made them with got vicked here in Brazil)

is there any other way to access sounds on zip drives? like software for a PC or mac?

You should be able to load them to a computer & then convert them to wav with one of the MPC computer programs. MpcPgmMaker is the Mac one. I think the PC one is called MPC Editor.

I was JUST about to say that, you beat me too it, haha.

Try loading them on computer and opening in a wav
editing program and re-saving them as wav again.
That has worked for me before but sometimes I also had to
bow down to defeat and just accept the lose of a sample.
