Maybe somebody out there can be of some help on this situtation... Whenever I drive to access my Zip drive now...of course I go into the disk menu then proceed to turn the SCSI to the zip channel...as soon as I started turning the jog wheel to change the "device" it comes up with the WAIT bar....and it never goes away, thus my MPC is frozen...I recently had my screen replaced and was wondering if it were possible for whoever did the replacement to have messed something up somehow... Has anybody else ever had this happen to them? Thanks in advance...

I encountered this problem as well but to my suprise I have my mp hooked to an external zip and an external scsi rom drive and they hook to my pc via a scsi card and when having the pc and the mp on it happens, but only in xp......when I was still running 98se it was never a problem

make sure your zip drive is on ID 5. Make sure your zip drive is ON
if not maybe try updating the os. if you already have the latest version, maybe try redownloading it to your disk.

I have a similar problem with my 2000. It's a crap shoot everytime I go to load a previously made sequence and song from the zip disk. I have since been made aware that powering up/plugging in your zip drive after turning on your mp may damage/short a circuit in the mp. A repair specialist should be able to open her up and mend the problem for you for around 100 bucks. I would also try loading from another zip drive.
