External Zip Drive

Have recently purchased a new 2000XL plus external CD-drive.
Can i run an External Iomega Zip Drive without a PC/computer ie can I link 2kXL via SCSI to External Drive without having to use any other hardware? I appreciate this is a basic enquiry but have not seen it covered on previous threads. Thanks.

If the zip drive is definitely SCSI then yes. You can run up to 7 SCSI devices in a chain, as long as they are all set to a different ID and the last one in the chain is terminated.

Thanks for the quick response. So the external zip drive can stand alone without the need for a PC for formatting etc, this presumably being taken care of by the 2KXL?

Yep, the MPC has everything needed to run the drive (an external drive will need it's own power supply)
