Sequencer on the 2000(XL)

I'm thinkin bout gettin an MPC 2000 or 2000XL as the center of my production setup, but I'm wondering how easy to use the sequencer is. Anyone care to comment?

it's very easy. i used logic for 2 years as my main sequencer and switched to the mpc about 4 or 5 weeks ago.. i love it. it'll take a week or 2 to get used to if you're only familiar with using graphic sequencers but the mpc is much more hands on and i wouldn't go back now.

I'm definitely used to graphic sequencers, it's so simple... but you're not the first to tell me that the MPC sequencer is pretty simple

I have Logic Pro, ableton Live, and the MPC, and I love the MPC the most for sequencing. It couldn't be simpler. Hit 'record', play something, if it sounds right, keep it. If not, play it again. That's it.

Not seeing the notes on a screen was liberating for me after years of using Logic. In Logic I was always looking at the notes and dragging stuff around - which is boring and doesn't feel like making music to me. On the MPC, I never feel like I need to see what I'm doing, I just bang the pads and listen. It's more fun, and I come up with better stuff this way.

Once you get used to the steps you'll be fine I'm still trying to get the hang
of it. If I dont like the way it came out or it sounds chop I undo the whole
sequence or I erase just the one sound on the pad that I dont want

One more question, can I export individual tracks so I can mix using software on my PC??

yea, i used my MPC sequencer for like 2 days before i was good and comfortable with it. I'm still not comfortable with the tritons sequencer, and ive had it for just about a year

yeah but you'll need to get the 8-out option (Akai IB-M208P), it may be easier if you get an mpc with one already installed because they're out of stock everywhere i tried in the US (i just ordered one yesterday from a place here in the uk and it cost me about £100 more).

I just got mine like 2 Saturdays ago (2000 classic) from this guy off of ebay. The screen was messed up too! I got a new screen this past Friday, installed it and have not stopped yet! EASYYYYY Seq! Im coming from software for the past 13yrs or so. I have never owned a piece of hardware besides my lil keyboards.

I got a steal. find one with a broke screen or something and make a deal like I did. Screens are easy to replace.

Mine came with 8-outs/32mbs and 250mb ZIP. under $500!!!!!

thing is hott..

BUT the only thing...which is not a bigg thing....the screen dont tilt like the XL..so I have to have it near the floor on a lower table than my turntable and other ish...

OH WELL im still happy!

its the reason i own it. I own a triton, mpc, and px7 all have sequencers, and are the major hardware sequencer. (aside from motif, fantom, rm1x) and i would say its the best of the three that i own. Actually, it makes me hate the other 3. ITs straight forward, and once you learn it, editing is a breeze

honestly i would say, dont even worry about it, a monkey can learn it, and a genius will love it.
