RECORDING MPC MULTITRACK INTO PC

Sup, I make beats using a triton and mpc2000xl for the drums and sequencing. I have sonar and other various progs and was wondering if there was a way for me to setup record mode to be triggered by me pushing play on my mpc or be triggered buy auido output from my mpc or triton when I push play. I recently got the omni i/o so I have 4 inputs and I want to record just 4 tracks at a time to keep everything multitrack...so If I have 16 tracks Im going to have to record 4 different times and need everything to stay in sync. Whats the best way to go about doing this as far as recording, I already understand how to use the 4 outs on the triton and I have the 8 outs option on my mpc. Im just a lil confused about recording and keeping certian sounds on thier on auido track. What methods do people usually use that dont have alot of inputs for recoring and still keeping it multitrack?

Like you said, 4 tracks at a time will do the trick. You have to sync your multitracker to the MPC (shift - 9 screen on the MPC) .
I tried Sonar, but didn't like it too much for multitracking. I never got it to work.
In my opinion Cubase sx is the easiest to set up with the MPC using Midi Time Code.
Just assign each track to it's own output on the MPC, and mute all the tracks exept the one you're recording.

wait, with 4 inputs on a sound card you can record 4 separate audio tracks at once in Cubase? no way!

Imma drive you mad today: 8 inputs on your soundcard -> 8 separate tracks at once in cubase!

The only problem is, you need a really fast pc and a fast harddisk to to record so many tracks at once.
