Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

If I assign a sound to a pad it will extend the decay time randomly, so if I have a little bit of a hi hat or something after a kick drum and I adjust the decay so you cant hear the hi hat anymore if I tap the pad with full level on its barely noticeable but I can hear that randomly a little part of the the hi hat will come through. Also I noticed that if I put 16 levels on, some pads will play at pretty long decay settings where if I have a hi hat after a kick on a pad you can hear the entire beginning of the hi hat after the kick even if I have the decay set so the hi hat isn't audible. I don't have any velocity/envelope settings on so I don't know what can be causing this. Anybody else had this happen to them on any machine or the 2000?

First thing I can think of is that it sort of sounds like you have your drums set on NOTE ON instead of ONE SHOT.

That or maybe POLYphony set to MONO.

Try POLY on global and pad..

I've tried messing with a lot of different settings on the 2000 but nah I have my drums set to mono

damn lamp you're everywhere lol. I always have my drums and samples set to mono, I haven't tried setting to poly but then my ghost notes and what not wouldn't cut each other off. I'll check out if poly makes a difference but the whole thing just seems odd to be happening and I hate that I fixate on shit like this but its just been bothering me. Considered getting another mpc just because of it but I had to talk myself out of it.

I feel like another mpc wouldn’t change the situation. Mono can be GLOBAL or just PAD itself, and even going into it further you can configure mute groups or mute targets on that same screen (screen pic above).

If you want you can even share your problem project with someone here and they can dig into it, maybe help find a solution or fix.

i figured it was something wrong with my mpc. I feel like there's no reason for the sound im working with to just randomly change in decay when I have a fixed decay setting, especially when I use 16 levels only for velocity. I've had the 2000 for awhile and I just started using 16 levels recently so maybe I just haven't been paying attention or its a new problem. I just tried poly on the pad and nothing changed I don't really know how to change the global setting on the 2000. I use mute groups but if my sounds are just going to have different decays at any given time if a sound is just playing without anything cutting it off then its gonna bother me, it shouldn't I guess but i just can't ignore it even if I can't really hear it in a sequence. What you mean by problem project?

MY BAD, my mind was still on mpc x from another thread.
SORRY for the confusion. :WTF:

Did you try reseatting the ram?
Re loading the OS?

lol its all good, uh nah I could give it a go though and I dunno what you mean by re loading the os but I tried to get a fresh download onto my flash drive but I have no goddamn idea how to get the os download onto a partition for the gotek to be able to read it.

Reload os, yes, a fresh copy of the os,
Gotek, IDK, I’ve never used one so IDK the details for that.

Does this happen when you load up other up completely different samples, pgm, etc.

Yeah its a pain in the ass it seems Iike I would have to copy the os from an actual floppy onto a partition on a flash drive. You can't just drag shit into each one on the computer. Yeah I tried multiple USB sticks, different programs, older stuff i sampled, tried sampling on the spot too. It happens everytime.

Mono would mean the samples would cut each other off.

POLY would allow the sample/voices to overlap, give it a try.

i know what mono and poly mean bruvski but give what a try? Switching drums or samples to poly wouldn't fix what I'm trying to fix.
