Gotek USB floppy emulator ?

This is my first post, I have 2 or 3 questions but I'm going to start with this one.

I bought another xl recently and it came with a USB floppy emulator. I formatted it on the xl and got it so it could be read by my Mac and the xl.

Ok I got a 32 gb USB drive started putting 16 bit drum samples on it I got somewhere between 15-18 samples on there before it said it was full, I'm trying to figure out if that's normal, it's seems normal for a floppy drive but not a 32 gb drive.

If that's not normal how do I split the sounds thru different partitions.

Yes it's normal because the floppy emulator is limited to 1.4 megabytes per disk image.

The best thing you can do for your mental health is to remove the floppy emulator completely, replace it with a SCSI card reader, so you won't be limited 1.4mb per disk but instead able to store 1 gigabyte per partition.

There's lots of threads on here about it. It'll cost you about $60 and you'll make so many new friends and lower your cholesterol too.

I feel you on that and plan to make that move but for now is there a way to switch partitions so I can use more than 18 sounds for the next 2 weeks?

No, that's just the thing - You don't get partitions when you're limited to 1.4 megabytes a disk man.

The only way you can handle more samples with the amount of ram you have is to span the samples across multiple virtual disk images.

To put this into context, if your 3000 has 32 meg ram and you fill it all up with a bunch of samples, you're going to need about 25 disks to load a simple project.

It's a waste of time, you're better off buying the SCSI card reader and putting this floppy emulator in the past.
