Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hey,
i have a problem booting up my mpc 2000 classic. when i put in the os floppy and start the machine, it says „disk read error“. i then downloaded the os online and copied it on other, empty floppy disks. i made sure that i copied the .sys and .exe files.
once i did that the machine started normally for a few times.
but the next day it has the same problem, saying „disk read error“ again.

do you have any idea what the problem may be and how i could solve it?
i also have an external zip drive, is there a way to boot up the mpc via the scsi?

any help is highly appreciated:)

greetings from hamburg

Sounds like the floppy drive may be dying. The mods you want to factor in when buying these are OG screen replacement, Gotek USB to replace the floppy and Making sure it has 32 megs of RAM.

The phase 2 mods are typically indi out expansion and FX card.

I just bought a Gotek to replace my 2000s floppy drive, so I'll be doing that install this weekend.
