Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Do not buy a zip drive from bbaaron01 on ebay. I bought an internal zip kit and the zip drive was dead. I know things like that can happen so I emailed him since he has a 90 day return policy. He tells me that as soon as I email him a tracking number for the package I am returning he will ship the replacement the same day and send me a tracking number. Well a week has went buy so I emailed him asking why he has not replied and where is my package. He has yet to ship my package and now claims that he never said he would ship the same day, which is complete bullshit becuase I have the copy of email that says he would. I may end up getting a working zip drive at the end of this all but to anyone else that is looking at gettign a kit from him do yourself a favor and DON'T!!!!! Buy the pieces seperately yourself it's cheaper anyway.

heres a link to one of his auction so you know what to look out for. Save yourself the headache.

Ya know, I got an AKAI zip kit from someone on eBay before and the drive wouldn't work. Then I decided I wanted to keep the floppy and just get a HD instead. The kit ended up only being like $25 so I wasn't too worried about it. I can't remember the seller's name though. Might have been the same person.

spectre, what type of hard drive did you get? i got a zip drive off ebay too, from derekallen, and the drive didnt work. im bout to get another one but i was thinking of goin the HD route also. is it better than zips to you? if so how is it better?

Well, I never used zips with my XL so I wouldn't know how it compares to a HD. What I can tell you is that it loads and saves fast as hell and it's most likely better than zips. I'ma still get an external zip for my MPC though and SCSI chain it with my HD. I don't need it right now though so I'm not worried.

Since were on the subject, does anyone one know where to get the cable, and ribbon for the zip drive?

I already have a zip in my mpc, but would like to add an internal one to my s2000. This way I could go back and forth between my mpc, and s2000.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I was thinking about adding the zip and taking out the floppy drive but I changed my mind!
Also always check the feedback on eBay it says alot even though a high feedback number means the seller has a good rep it still can be a bad transaction sometimes
Peace

The ribbon cable for an ide/atapi zip is the same ribbon cable as a regular PC hard drive.

yea i bought an external cd drive once from ebay and if i remember right after about a month of not receiving it i emailed and they didnt contact me back. i emailed again, and no answer. emailed a 3rd time and i got a message back asking me to be patient and stop sending emails about it. i was like what?! send my shit and ill leave you alone! so i think after about a month and maybe almost 2 weeks i finally got it and i shook it cause it looked banged up and something was rattling inside and shi* but anyway, the thing never worked. so yea there's scams out there. just gotta beware

you know you can request the sellers info and call them by phone too so you're not sitting around waiting for their e-mails...you can threaten them over the phone too j/k

You can go to a pc store and get the power adapter. Open up your MPC and look at the connection on the motherboard and see what you need.
