HELP

ive already asked a few people about my little problem but cant seem to figure it out

maybe someone on here knows

i have a brand new Technics SL 1200 and a Stanton mixer with BRAND NEW rca to 1/4 inch wires going into my MPC....and from the MPC i have a pair of Roland monitors...they arent the best monitors...but they seem to work...i also am using a brand new Ortofon needle so everything seems to be in good condition

what im getting at is this

when i sample something off a record....even new hip hop 12's(i did this as a test) the sound is vey bass heavy...vocals sound almost hallway like in the background...alot of echo...alot of static....only some channels play...alll my levels on the mixer and on the MPC are fine....so the only things i can think of it being is either a problem internally with the MPC or my speakers...

upon inspection it seems my speakers arent the problem...headphones hooked up to my mixer indicate that

im just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem?

im really hoping it is not the Akai but then again what else could it be

this post may have gone nowhere but its very frustrating

How are you listening to records if the MPC isn't sampling? Does everything sound ok that way?

You say there is static ....... is your turntable earthed properly?

Are you sampling from other sources which are sounding alright?

I don't think this is going to be a technical problem with the MPC but you probably just need to try some alternate ways to hook things up.

See what happens if you record from the Stanton onto something different from the MPC ..... like CDR, computer, DAT, minidisc or tape. How does that sound? If it sounds right, then try sampling that recording on the MPC.

I would plug the headphones in the MPC and listen to the sample. If it sounds fine it's probably your speakers. If it sounds messed up then it something with the mixer/connection. Check to see if ya jacks are in ALL the way on the MPC and the mixer. Also check the sampling level on the MPC when you are sampling. If it's too high it can distort the sample and give feedback.

the sampling levels are fine on the MPC and when i plug headphones into the MPC it sounds horrible

if i plug them into my mixer it sounds fine

everything is grounded properly

someone told me it might be where i have my 1/4 inch stereo in hooked in....a bad connection maybe inside the MPC...i dont even know how i go about that

You may have to adjust the jacks before you sample. I have the same problem with the connection jacks inside the MPC. I have to wiggle it around until the signal comes in good

I had a similar problem when I had my turntable>stanton mixer>mpc>back into mixer>reciever. I created some sort of loop of sound. I also got mad feedback when I had my sample screen up and nothing was playing. I dont know anything about why that happened, but the problem was fixed when I went mpc>reciever.

i had the same problem about a year ago when I first purchased an mpc 2000xl. Instead of everything being bass heavy, everything was really flat. I thought it was my mixer, so just as a test I ran a CD player directly into the MPC inputs ( I used Get Rich or Die Trying in the CD player), I would have various frequencies just drop out for no reason; sometimes one channel would be missing...it was an internal problem with the MPC sampler. I just returned the MPC and got a new one.

it sounds like you are combining the left and right channels into one, and this **** up the center channel.
you need two seperate connecters. one for left, and one for right, they cannot combine
