Help w/ SCSI

Yo, i just got my mpc 2000xl, so im new to all this stuff. Ive read some of the post but most of it seems chinese. could someone please get me a quick rundown of how to hook up my external zip drive.

for the past couple of weeks ive been doing beats, then throwing them away. i know how to save sounds on on floppy, but this zip stuff is driving me crazy.

for some reason it wont read my......man i dont know!!!

PEACE

1. Format you zip disk on MPC.
The MPC will LOVE this disk and you most likely will not have problems.

2. Format your ZIP on PC w/fat/fat16.
The PC and MPC can read this disk BUT you MUST use 8 character filenames if you wanna keep things nice. If U don't heed this
warning, confusion and irratation will ensue.

i tried, but its not readin

its funny that i can do almost everything else on the xl, but i cant get it to simply format the zip drive. it wont let me move from SCSI-1.
is it supposed to be on SCSI 1 or SCSI 5?

not tryna be a burden, but could somebody post step by step directions on how to format a 100 zip, and the proper way to save?
