32MB instalation question.

I just tried to toss in 2-16 MB memory sticks. When i put it all back together and turned it on, my MPC didnt see it there. I thought I may have instaled it wrong, so i tried it again. I put it all back topgether and again, it didnt see it.
Any suggestions?

What do you mean you didnt see it? Did u try SHIFT+ 4(sample), "highlight" time (10.0), and press OPEN WINDOW. If you installed it correctly, it should say "32Megabytes installed"

Beets is right. Also, what kind of ram is it?

I used to work @ Guitar Center and I saw the same thing 1nce . Some guy brought in his MPC 2000 (non-XL) and I put in 2 16's over and over and it wouldn't read . So he got a single 32 and it worked fine . The weird thing is that I have a regular 2000 w/ 2 16's in it and it works fine .

It's best to have 2 x 16mb matching sticks of ram or 1 x 32mb stick.
Your 16mb sticks should be 60ns access speeds or faster.

Im starting to wonder if the ram might be bad. I tried the shift+F4 thing... and it said 0.0 and that pissed me off.

I might try to get another 2-16mb sticks to see if those work and return the previous two.

I installed the memory in a friend of mines mpc and we had to go back to the computer place were we got the memory 2 times before we got the right sticks.

The Motherboard should have 2mb standard. If you didn't see that but you had 2 sticks installed then the RAM is bad, not seated right or it's not the correct type.

The ram turned out to be bad. Im getting another set of 16MB sticks. Ill keep ya up to date if I keep having issues.

All is good now. I went to shift+F4 and I had 10 seconds of time. I assume I should try to sample and save to see if it actually is fine.

i had that happen with mine... try puting in just one stick of ram and see if it reads it... i have two 16's but it only reads it when one is installed... when both are in i have no sample time... but when its just one it gives me like 200sum seconds... i dont know why it happens and still havent figured out how to fix it... im just livin with 16megs

U Want 2 Chips With the same Brand (Parity or Non-Parity) but if not At least the same nanoseconds speed (70)

2 X 16mb is recomended over 1 X 32 mb.... some of
the newer 32mb chips don't even read.
