another card reader question..need help from sum1 who dun it

i was already told once by a wise man, but i need to know from someone who has actually done this. i have an internal card reader in my 2kxl. i have a usb card reader for my pc. can i take a brand new, never opened smart media card, and put sounds from my pc on it, and then go directly to my mpc without doing or changing anything with the sounds or file names? or do i have to abide by the zip rules and change all the file names to less than 8 characters? does this card have to be formatted b4 i use it? IF ANYONE HAS ACTUALY DONE THIS OR HAS EXPERIENCE WITH THIS EXACT SITUATION, PLEASE HOLLER.!!!!!

8 character limit is a solid no bending rule for fat/fat16 in the MPC2k/2kxl.

Use fat/fat16 via PC. If you got the card already
it won't hurt it to format and try out your theory either.

If you're talking about the beta OS, I think MPC3000 posted it on his site a few weeks ago.
