2000 XL “MCD” flash memory question

I just ordered a 2000 XL w/a new multi-card reader installed in it (like the new MCD, it takes Compact Flash, Smart Media, Memory Stick, and Secure Digital). I’m just wondering if anybody has any opinions on which one of these would be best to stock up on for storing data. Pros and cons about each? One more reliable than another? Any least likely to become totally obsolete in two years? Thanks! --Zzzzz

The Memory Stick is a chewing gum sized flash memory card developed by Sony. Although it has been aggressively marketed by Sony with a resultant increase in market share, it has yet to be accepted by other major manufacturers. Despite this, it has made great in roads in the flash memory market, largely at the expense of CompactFlash and SmartMedia. It is the only memory card that has a write/protect button like the one present in floppy disks. There are two versions of the Memory Stick: Standard and MagicGate. The MagicGate Memory Stick has copyright protection built in whereas the standard does not. The relationship of the Standard Memory Stick to the MagicGate Memory Stick is similar to that of MMC to SD. The prices of Sony Memory Stick are still quite expensive compared to CompactFlash and SmartMedia.
