MPC Synced with Motif ES

Im using my motif ES6 as a sound module and im sequencing through the MPC 2000xl. when i change the volume on my motif in the motif mixer window, it also changes my volume on the mpc's track also. i didnt think that was possible. How do i stop this or control it.
