MPC 2000:Will it see a SCSI drive inside my MAC?

Hello all, I have looked but haven't found anyone with the answer to my specific scenario.
I have an external seagate scsi & cdrom and I want to consolidate space. Plus I would like to be able to do my file management on my sample drive from my mac where I also use my MPC pgm editor.
I have already tried putting the AKAI formatted drive in the MAC, of course it didn't see it, and the MPC didnt see it when I hooked it up to the MAC.
I came across some one who vaguely suggested that it wasn't being recognized because it was on the internal SCSI chain. That it might work if I got a SCSI card. Any thoughts???

Let me think......

1. I know if the DISK is DOS formatted both MAC and MPC will see the DISK.
2. I'm not quite sure what you mean about the DRIVE?
3. Any only one Scsi device at a time for the MPC dont do any chaining you will blow the Scsi Fuse.

Let me be a little more specific about my goal. It seems my wording might be confusing.
Current Setup:

MPC 2000 <----> 18 gig Seagate SCSI/CDRom inside a dual bay external case.

I have SCSI conneciton on my Macintosh that the MPC could go straight to. So, I was curious if I there is some way for me to place my drive into the MAC and connect the MPC straight to the MAC. This way:
-I eliminate the external case.
-I can manage files on the 18gig
-I can have my samples immediately accesible to my MPC editor.
-I can load cd material from the Macintosh's internal cd

Obvious RED Flags:
-The 18 gig is AKAI formatted. Thus the MAC doesn't see it. And the MPC doesn't see the drive(I've tried)

However, like I mentioned in my 1st post, someone said that it's possible that the MPC is not seeing the 18gig because it is connected to the MAC via it's internal scsi chain. He thought it was possible that it might work if it were connected to an indepedent SCSI card in the MAC.

SCSI Chain idea is a NO NO! If I could find the Akai PDF i had about why not to do that I would give you the link, (I will try find it to show you)

The Akai will recogise the CD ROM on its own. Not whilst in your MAC
for formats and chain reasons.
The last time something closely was done like this was using Recycle with the Akai S3000 Sampler, I tried to do that but my Scsi skills then was not like it is now.

Also, MPC2000 or XL dont read Multi-Session CD Roms either, thought you might like to know that as well. I tried CDRW and CD-R no joy. ISO one burn only mate.

Of Course U would need to Install the card reader 4 that but I think that is Possible

The MPC Has An OS That Does ODD Things with SCSI ...........

And SCSI Can Be only a certain length and must have a start and end Preferably

Ok done some research!

1. The Chain can work, but only with external scsi devices.
So you can have 1-7 Zip drives based on the amount of SCSI ID's
A Zip Drive and CDROM and a HDD, but they all must be external and not connected to the pc at the same time, the reason why is because they PC and MPC might try to access the same Device at the same time, which causes MAJOR problems..SCSI fuses get blown for this reason.
Also it messes up your disks especially in Zip situations.
But you could try to see what happens with the CD Rom but I doubt it will work...!! if u use it through the PC or MAC.

Thanks for your input Penfold, as well as everyone else. I also researched some. I called VST.
Although the guy I spoke with wasn't very specific. The main idea was, to reitorate Penfold, you have 2 systems attempting to access one point, not to mention , talking in 2 different languages.
