Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I once read on the site that someone claimed you could use the resampling function on the MPC to take a sample, use your mpc eb16 fx board on that sample, and then have the resample function effectively re-record the sample with the effects. This way, you could free your effects board up for more tracks. I attempted this with no luck. Anyone know if this is true and if so, how to actually pull that off?

Also, does anyone know how to get the gritty low fi sample effect from the MPC to achieve that sound you would hear on the main sample of Stardust's "music sounds better with you" (I have a feeling most of the people on this site are hip hoppers) or for a 10 year old reference, the samples that you hear on Ice Cube's "the predator" namely "check yoself" but NOT THE EVER POPULAR REMIX WITH GRANDMASTER FLASH's "THE MESSAGE" AS THE SUPPORTING SAMPLE. The album version was quite different. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate to know how it goes...
