Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello there,

i am an mpc virgin and am having a few problems. please please please could someone help me?!!!

I basically have two main questions which would make my life a lot easier! firstly, i will be using my mpc live and i want to know whether there are any short cuts for swopping sequences which will also swop the program of sounds assigned to that sequence, at the same time. i have it set up so that each of my songs are one sequence.
at the moment i have to go into the prog menu, change the program, then go back to the main screen and select the right sequence i.e song. Is this the best way to do it?

Secondly, i will also be using an akai 3000 sampler. however i have done all my sampling on my mpc and my akai sampler cannot read the files, whereas the mpc reads files i have saved to my sampler. what is the best way for me to transfer my files to my sampler? do i have to go via a pc? if so are there any programs that do this??

if any one has any info i would be very grateful!

There's an easier way.
Go to Program (Shift + 6)
Press Open Window while the program name is highlited.
Assign a value to the field "Assign Midi Program Change:"
----------------------Return to Main Screen------------------------------
On a drum track in your sequence....
Go into Step record
Press Insert (F4)
Spin dial to Program Change and press Do It (F6)
Enter the program change number you assigned in the Program screen at the beginning of the sequence.
You can set your program to switch anytime during your sequence.

would this same concept appy to midi data? And I have noticed a 1-16 option under this screen (or something like that), what do these numbers represent? Where it says program changes, will this pull up sounds between sequences cleanly if I have to sequences with totally different sounds (all from external modules)....

just curious...

>"would this same concept appy to midi data?"

Yup. Ev'rythings the same. But you don't have to set anything in the program screen.

>"And I have noticed a 1-16 option under this screen (or something like that), what do these numbers represent?"

Actually, its numbered 1-128. They represent the patch number on your external modual.

>"Where it says program changes, will this pull up sounds between sequences cleanly if I have to sequences with totally different sounds (all from external modules)...."

Yes. But not where it says program change on the program screen, just in the Step record function. You also have to send Control Change messages to switch banks. Settings (MSB/LSB) will vary from synth to synth. But they should be listed in the manuals.
