What are .set and .seq files?

Well a .SEQ is a sequence file, but as far as a .SET file?.

According to the manual, these are the different files:

>.ALL- A FILE WITH 99 SEQUENCES AND 20 SONGS

>.MID- A STANDARD MIDI, A SEQUENCE, FILE

>.APS- ALL PROGRAMS AND SOUNDS

>.PGM- A PROGRAM FILE. WHEN A PROGRAM IS SAVED, IT WILL ONLY CONTAIN PROGRAM DATA, BUT WHEN A FILE IS LOADED, THE SOUNDS USED BY THE PROGRAM WILL BE LOADED AS WELL.

>.SND- MPC2000XL SOUND FILE

>.WAV- A SOUND FILE.

I believe a SET file is a file used by pre-MPC2000's - as an alternative for either an APS or an ALL (not sure which, but it's in the manual under Disk Operation)

Since I got my MP, back in '99, I've never had to use those file extentions. I kinda assumed .seq was a sequence file, but I've never seen a sequence saved as anything but a .mid file.

.set is the File-extension of MPC 60 Sound-Programms. The MPC2K can load those Files an convert it to a "normal" .pgm file. I found some old MPC 60 .set files on the web some time ago and tried them on my MPC2k.
It takes a little more time to load them, `cause the MPC converts the MPC60 Sounds to normal .snd Files...
