USB for what? Explain in detail how your mpc and pc is connected and what are you using that connection for. Click on the first link in my signature as well and you will find all the basic info you need and maybe a little more.

"Also when you turn your mpc off everything is lost if you don't save it to a disk is this correct." You really should download a manual and read through it. All the basics are covered and it seems right now you are just running in the blind. DON'T DO THAT! Know what your getting into, read the manual, push the buttons on the mpc as you read through the chapters and you will answer many of your questions on your own.

Do a search on the internet for 72pin edo ram 16mb and/or 32mb. 60ns or less. You'll find what you need with that search. It's old ram so most computer stores won't have it. If there is a mom and pop pc store near you check there and ask, most of the time the little old looking mom and pop stores have it just laying there to the side doing nothing and they'll sell it to you for cheap. I went into one small store ond day and I saw like 7 sticks sitting in a small glass case just chillin.

Man..
it is tough for me to move from software (Impulse Tracker/Scream Tracker/FL) to the hardware but IMO, using the MP and FL just dont mix not unless you are using FL as your module and recording everything to an external DAW (Roland VSXXX, BOSS BR blah blah blah)...
I either use one or the other....

just my 14cents..
