FINDING PADS USED IN SEQUENCE

is there any way to find out what pads i used each a sequence. sometimes my ideas are rolling so fast i forget wich pads i hit. When i go back to record the song into my pc (8in 8 outs), it takes soooo much time becuz im trying to get every sound on a seperate track in my PC,

Lets say my kick is on Pad 1 and my snare on pad 2. Should i record the kick on track one and snare on track 2. May seem to be silly but its giving my a head ache, i got this tight azz beat but i have the sounds on each sequence spreaded all over the place.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also get in the habit of saving your drum programs along with your mixer settings for the 8 outputs (.APS file) and use a standard routing format like.......

Pads 1 and 9 = Output 1, Pad 2 and 10 = Output 2, Pads 3 and 11 = Output 3, Pads 4 and 12 = Output 4, Pads 5 and 13 = Output 5, Pads 6 and 14 = Output 6, Pads 7 and 15 = Output 7 and Pads 8 and 16 = Output 8.

If your drum program has more than 16 samples, you will have to use more banks to do this. So if possible, try to keep your programs limited to one bank of 16 samples for simplicity sake (newbies)!

This way the first eight pads 1-8 have dedicated outputs which will be shared if pads 9-16 are also used. The sounds of pads 1 and 9 will both use output 1 and the sounds of pads 5 and 13 will use output 5. Solo tracks as required for recording purposes. You dig?

Another useful tip.....Set up your mixer to use these settings on all your programs. Check page 135 of the manual 'setting up the mixer'.
