zip drive in pc....how do i format it?

ok i just installed a zip drive that a friend gave me, and put it in my pc and it seems to be working. i put my mpcs zip disk into it and had to format it (i have loaded the files into the mpc's ram first so i dont lose any shit). so then i put it into my mpc and saved the files. and then went to the load screen to verify they were saved.
then i put it in my pc and see 0 files.... what am i doing wrong. and also, am i limited to 6 letters or somethin? i rememer somethin about 6 letters

ok, so i just put some files from the pc to the zip disk, and then checked they were there by closing the window and going back to my computer > L: drive, so i eject the dsk, go the mpc and my folder with the files from the mpc is still there, along with a LOT of **** up shits... files like £*$*"(£$ etc. loads of em. so i go back to the pc and the files frmo the pc are there all ok... what the hell is goin on??

oh yea... cant i just use mpc formtated diks?

now ths is weird. i just formatted it in my pc, put a file (Clap.wav) onto the disk. pputit in my mpc and the mpc filse from before i formatted it are still thee.... its like im using 2 separate disks......

also i have the new mpc 2000xl os file on my pc. its may2004. should i put it on my mpc???

but i cant anyways cos cant get this zip shit to wokr

Is your data valuable?

Keep a set of zip discs EXCLUSIVELY for saving programs From the MPC.
Keep another set for TRANSFERRING samples from your PC.

Use the MPC load screen (SHIFT> LOAD) to format your MPC Zips prior to use. Use the software supplied with your Zip drive to format your PC Zips.

Use MPC Editor to create programs on your PC with ease. Transfer these programs to your MPC, make any adjustments to them, and SAVE them onto your MPC Zips for future use.

Dont put your MPC zips into your PC zip drive to avoid data corruption (missing files, mixed up spelling etc.). Dont use your PC zips to save programs from your MPC.

Try color-coding or labelling your zip discs so that you can tell instantly whether they are formatted for MPC or PC.

what u using win98 or xp?

format them on FAT , it should read both, depending how used those zips are, if there old then you might need to use midicase fix disk program.

i am formatting the shit outta the zip disks in FAT. but when i put em in the mpc everythins there! its crazy as shit
also one of my two zip disks has 10 diff parts. a-a, to a-j

after 3 hours i somehow fixed it

i downloaded software from iomega site and formatted the disk. and now it works. and just installed 1.2

I was begining to think u were the only one in this thread...Glad u got it sorted.
