Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

HI,

I am considering copping a s series akai (probably the s3000) which would enable me to utilize my 2kxl as only a sequencer and key map the sounds from the rack to the pads. However.. i was wondering if you could do this with a sampler keyboard. Would the asr or Triton be able to accoplish this? If so, what would be the point of getting a rack sampler at all?

Triton and/or ASR can do it. Only difference is that they are keyboards also.

Not really much point in getting a rack sampler these days! Better to use a multifunctional type of sampler such as a keyboard or soft sampler.

Rack samplers are good for gigs and touring, but the specs can be quite limited compared to modern PC's. Also they sometimes suffer from compatability issues with scsi hard drives and sample formats. And the small editing screens?

Not for me!

Best of both worlds? MPC with USB sample transfer. MPC1000 or MPC4000.
