Time Stretch

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how this works. I wanna know how to be able to take a sample and change the pitch with out changing the temo or speed of the sample. kinda how alot of producers make the vocals on a sample high-pitched, but the value of the sample is still the same. I been trying this for a while and in the process found alot of new ways to sample, but this is something i need to know. Hope somebody can help. thanks.

U need to pitch it up for that effect. Use timestretch if u need to alter the result

If i pitch it up, the sample will speed up. So what your saying is that the time stretch will keep the pitch, but slow the sample down to the speed i want? If so, how do you do that with the time stretch? I dont understand the ratios.

you could get a sample rate converter

Pitch = Speed up or down
Timestretch = alter tempo without changing the pitch

So if you want the sped up sample lick, u need to pitch it up to the desired effect. If your happy with the Bpm move on, If you want to speed up or slow it down a touch but not change the pitch anymore Timestretch is your tool.

Ratio's for timestretch work best when u keep % change either side of 10 (+/-) max

this will just alter the fidelity of the sample. it is not timestrecthing or pitch adjustment like this dude needs.

My sample rate converter lets you change the pitch and BPM also

does it have a name?

same at 45 rpm and then timestretch it to fit. ableton has good time slicing and stretch algorythms
