Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

After I load my sounds and my sequences, I start attempting to edit a seq. and it freezes up. It won't do anything, and actually just now started emitting an awful electronic noise out of the stereo outs. I can turn it off and on again, and it does the same thing. Has anyone had this problem? Is there something I can do without having to take it to be repaired?

thanks,
james

thats weird...XL or normal mpc2000?
i would try loading sounds off a floppy and disconnecting any scsi devices and see how that goes. also, since it is almost the only user repair most people can do, if you have upgraded the ram i would scale it back to what the mpc came with and then try again. could be the ram failing. if it is an XL i had heard they are buggy for some peeps id try the latest os.

Mess with the RAM and also check the OS version.

My MPC 2000 used to Freeze all kinds in the the first year, but hasn't frozen in like 4 years.
You could be trying to do to much at once. Or doing improper comands.
Is it fairly new?
