i always rename my programs to match my sequences names. lets say i am using ego47.pgm (thanks ego!) and i start a new beat. i get the beat dope and decide a name. let's called it fives (cause its in 5/4). i hit open window and name the sequences as fives1, fives2, etc, then immediately hit shift 6 to get the prorgram screen. hit open window on the pgm name (currently ego47) and rename it fives. then when i save to my zip i save fives1.mid and fives.pgm on the same zip. i tell it not to replace exisiting sounds and i am all set. then when i load a seuqnce or set of sequences i know which program goes with them. that is the best way i have ever come up with. i dont have the XL and cant make folders, so i cant really break everything down and put the sequences and programs for each song in their own place.
It took me a while to get organized, but I forced myself to do it. After working with some guys on a studio project, I found it incredibly helpful to create an actual form that listed the tracks, title, tempo....I keep a folder next to my gear and can pull up any track off any zip. Now that I have close to 50 zips, keeping track of songs, seq....can become overwhelming
