ok...so i now know that by pressing shift+4 you can set your levels and begin recording a sample and simply assign it to a pad by just tappin it. cool. major big uppisms to all those that are patient with me and gave a dumb fool a helping hand.

so now... what's the next logical thing to do. for example:
how do i save pad assignments?
how do i save samples.
how do i loop lets say a drum beat... then add a horn line etc....

btw.. i have an mpc2000xl with basic 2mb and reg floppy drive.

Peace!

pad assignments...
goto the program screen (shift+6) and where it has program1 or whatever at the top left for the name highlight that then hit 'open window'
use the mpc pads to enter a new name for the program and be sure to hit enter to confirm your new name. now once it is named you hit shift+3 to go to disk, hit f2 to go to the save screen and select what type of file you want to save. lets save your program so we set it to programs and sounds and select your program name and hit save. you have the option of having it automatically saving all of the sounds you used in the program as it does this. once you make a beat you save it on the same screen just set type to sequence.
