Say i have my 2 bar drum loop, nicely trimmed and looped and assigned to a pad.

Then i have my nice guitar sample, trimmed and looped and assigned to another pad.

They sounds nice together for a second, then after about 3 bars, they become mismatched, timing wise.

How do i match samples so they ride perfectly in sync with one another?

(In case you didn't notice, i got my 2000xl VERY recently.... lol)

not all samples play well with each other. i would slice the drum loop into individual hits and assign them to pads. then loop the guitar and make your own beat, using the sounds from the drum that does work with the guitar loop.

Thanks.

So then there's no way to quantise samples with one another (aside from tuning up or down)?

not unless you slice them to individual hits (recycle is good for this). it then creates a midi file at their original tempo putting them all back together that you can then change the tempo of (without pitch changing) or make your own beats or melodies out of.

or you could timestretch the 2 samples (actually, you would only need to do one) to make them the same length, so the timing will stay the same throughout.

yeah but if they have clashing swing or rthymic elements (or just dont work together) timestretching wont make them match up any better.
