Can I assign tracks or sequences to pads?

I'd like to assign tracks of a sequences to the pads so I can perform songs live- can I do this? For example:

Track 1 (kick & snare) to pad 37
Track 2 (hi hats) to pad 38
Track 3 (bass) to pad 30

Before recording an instrument change the track number so that they instrument will be on it's on track afterwards.

Also, read the manual.

Are you using a classic 2000 or an XL ? I don't think they said anything in the original's manual (maybe in the addendum) about track muting w/ the pads but you can do it if you do what Lampdog said and when you're in the main screen move you're cursor to the on/off funtion on the track part and hit open window .

If what I'm thinking is what you are asking then the answer is no. Sort of like what you can do with an SP-808. That's one of the features I loved about that.

One way around it (if you have the time) is to record those individual tracks on a recorder, and sample them back into the MPC and assign them to pads.

WOW, in my last post I had actually type "great minds think alike" but I deleted it cause I didn't wanna sound too forward. Yeah, I guess we do then huh?

that was excellent advice from all of you great minds- i think resampling each track and assigning it back to the pads would definitely work.

it seems that not being able to assign tracks of a song to the pads is a design flaw. i think it'd be sick to be able to perform the arrangement of a song live by tapping pads.

The mute track function does allow you to to a live arragement of a sequence by tapping the pads to mute - unmute tracks as STeele pointed out. Without the need of resampling

I read that whole thing way wrong.
