mpc2000xl midi help!

im using my microkorg with my mpc2000xl through midi, but im running into a problem. heres the scenario:

i record something from the microkorg into a track into the mpc, i want to record something else into a different track into the mpc, so i change the sound im using on the microkorg into something different. but when i do this, it changes the original sound i used on the first recording i did in the mpc. is there a way i can get around this, or is this how it is supposed to work?

basically, im limited to using 1 sound only when recording into the mpc. can someone help me out!

Does the korg have a performance function where you can play up to 4 sounds at once? If it does then select the performance function, put the sounds you want into it but make sure each sound is on a different midi channel on the keyboard and MPC and also ensure that you put the keyboards sounds on different tracks on the MPC.
