Whats the best way to configure, hook up and make this work?

alrite i have a great studio setup iam almost done purchasing.
1-mpc2000xl
1-digi001
1-digi001 pc card
1-yamaha motif 6
1-korg triton
1-pro tools software
1-cubase sx
1-reason 2.5
1-desktop pc
1-sony viao labtop
1-bass guitar
1-behringer composer-xl
1-digitech vocalist
1-stanton final scratch 2 amp w/midi control
2-vestax pdx-2000 turntables
1-vestax 05pro mixer

okay now the labtop is equiped with the stanton final scratch 2 traktor program. was wondering if i should put programs on this such as cubase, reason, or pro tools.
The labtop is sony viao Pentium 4, 2.66ghz,40gb hardrive,512 mb ddr, with sony memory card slot.

the pc is equiped with the digi001 pc card, reason 2.5, cubase sx, pro tools. The pc's specs: 80gb hardrive, pentium 4, 512mb ddr ram, 52xcd burner.


now i want this to be a functioning studio for 2 people to work evenly with a great work flow.
but i dont know how to configure all of this to work out for two producers.
any suggestions?

There's many ways to hook this up. It depends on how you want to work.

1. Are you going to sequence on the mpc?

2. Will you be sampling a lot from vinyl?

3. You say you're going to be working with a partner, do either of you have a speciality (like like editing synths, chopping samples, programming drums)?

Does the laptop have a good soundcard with 2 inputs that you could use for sampling?

I'd like to help you out, but i need more info.

the labtop is a sony viao as stated on the top, its basic the way i purchased is the way it is.
the pc is going to have digi001 so thats the main control to the pc to the hardware and software.

now ive been d.j.ing for about 6 years, and want to step up my game.
i and my partner are new to the whole producing world, so any advice help or at least help on understanding the jargon of this terminology is helpful in many ways.
i have had the turntables, the final scratch 2 amp and sofware, the mixer, and all the other stuff is now in my possesion.
so we figured this would be a great work station.

hope this gives you an idea of whom your dealing with as well.

Alright, i'll give you an idea. This is how i would set it up, but it's not the only way.

MPC main sequencer, hooked up to the pc with both midi and audio. MPC Synced to Cubase/ProTools, MPC as master.
Synths 1 (Triton?) hooked up to MPC with a midi handshake.
Synth 2 hooked up to synth 1's midi thru.
All synths outputs to Digi 002

DJ Mixer output 1 to Digi 002 for recording scratches to Protools. (If you want to just play some records, you'll have to switch on the digi 002 and use it as a standalone mixer. )

I would get a simple usb or firewire soundcard for the laptop. Something like an M-audio Audiophile. This will also come in handy when using the laptop in dj-sets.
Dj-mixer output 2 to laptop inputs. A software audio editor on the laptop, and maybe ReCycle to chop loops. This way your partner can be working on the laptop recording and cutting loops up, while you're on the mpc or desktop.
If you're really into sampling, finding and changing samples is going to take a big portion of your time.

You could network the laptop and pc together so you can transfer the samples to the desktop, and load them in a softsampler in Cubase/ProTools. Or you could put them on disk, and load them in the mpc.

The behringer composer & digitech vocalist i can't help you with. I've never used them. But you can plug them anywhere in the audiopath really.

I would hope so....holy sh*t....thats a lot of god damn equipment for "We're new to this."

But i would do the same if i had the cash flow so good luck man...i hope you dont lose interest real quick.....but if you do....hit me up and i'll take some of that USED equipment off your hands

now i really see why its good to just start with "ONE" thing at a time.
