I'm new to the MPC and i've made a few beats with a synth added via midi but i'm curios as to how everyone uses the MPC in a live concert situation. I've always put all my beats on my Roland 1680 recorder, set markers, and used that to play the recorded beats...but the only problem is i cant change any of the beats during the show (like loop a sequence and let somone freestyle over until he's finished - i have to preset everything into the recorder before the show, and i'm really limited in what i can do live).
So my question is: if i made all my beats by adding a midi keyboard to the MPC it seems like there is no way i could use the MPC in a live situation without also bringing the synth to the gig, is that right? I've been to a bunch of shows were all i see is a DJ with an MPC in the back, and all the beats playing are more than just drum loops; is everything basically sampled into the MPC (all the synth bass lines and melody licks?), and are you able to use the 8 outputs to output individual sounds/pads (output 1: bass drum; output 2: snare; output 3: sample....) to make it easier for mixing purposes?
If anyone could clue me in on the whole live sound capibilities of the MPC i'm really interested to learn more; i'm just getting sick of bringing my 1680 recorder to all the shows, and i'm just wondering if there is an easier way using the MPC? I got a 2000xl with maxed memory and 8 outs.
