just got a 2KXL, but feeling bittersweet (not a question)

I've always wanted an MPC, but have stuck to my Triton until an artist i was doing enginering on passed away and left me his 2000XL and about 15 zip disc of beats or sounds. I have printed about 120 pages of the manual so far and read about 50 of them. This beast looks like its gonna be tough to figure it out but, i can be patient.
I have been playing with the load song and load program and am kinda learning a bit about it. But just looking over this site reminds me of Tritonhaven.com and that site saved my azz a few times. So before i start asking questions daily I just wanted to say thanks for having a site like this.

welcome homie. IVe got a triton too. If you got triton & mpc questions, ask, cause there are some other triton users here too.

But definately if you can figure out how to create triton programs, assign samples to drumkits.........and write combis, copy combis....etc. The mpc will be easy.

Oh my, sorry about your homies departure man, very sad.

Like Cyrus said, if you can deal with a Triton then a 2kxl will be EASY for you. I had the classic, got rid of it and now have the Extreme, love it.
I also have a 2kxl. I had the ASR10 first, when I finally got my 2kxl I almost knew exactly what to do and I was in love (again).

welcome to the forum...apologize about ya artist that passed away...you're in the place to be...it will do you good to stick to bein' on here...a great wealth of knowledge on here from some true professionals on the art of beat-music...and that's word!...i just use the MP...nothin' more, nothin' less...my only advice to you is PLEASE find another medium to back up all those sounds on those zips...like floppys...i know the process might be a lil' too much, but its a sure way to back up your sounds since you're just gettin' started on the MP...trust me i wish i would've taken the advice that i'm givin' you...take the time, back up your sounds on floppy's...again, it might seem a lil' unecessary, but its an efficient way storage...i'm sure as time goes on the professionals that are on this forum will give you some grand advice on efficient storage medium...which brings me to this point...which in my book is the word of the decade when it comes to production...in the words of mpc3000 -"... The storage medium IS more important than the MPC: the MPC can be replaced, your work cannot."

Warm Welcome to the forums man....peeps here will be cocky at times and help at most, so be experimental with it give everything a try except resurrection. i recently started to use my MPC1000 with my mates triton the other day and I'm having a wonderul time. Nothing is musically impossible with an mpc 2000xl so all the best.
