Mixers

Can anyone tell me the advantage of having a mixer. I often here poeple say just get a 8in 8out sound sound instead of a mixer.

Do mixers brighten the sound of your gear once it ran through a mixer opposed to just straight to the sound card.

Now can can anyone tell me the advantage of having both. Im thinkin of getting a mixer for more inputs. I have a delta 1010 now with a motif ES and MPC.

the advantage is is that you can eq each channel! I have my 8 outs to my 24 channel console and I eq each channel until everything fits well in the mix. Also the volume of it!

(Depends on the mixer) but my sound gets thicker cuz of the mixer and eqíng.

I have a behringer 16 channel mixer, it was only like $200 so I copped it. I wanted a Mackie but it was about double the price with less channels, but it's a better mixer.

I got a Yamaha MC24 with the VU meters haha! it's an older console and kinda big (1,05 meters wide) but you gotta love it!

tip...before i record digital I first record it on tape! your sound is thicker and phat. BUT you have to invest in some good tape gear otherwise you get a degration in sound!

My uncle had one of these things lying around and hadn't used it for 19 years so he gave it to me. Haven't used it yet, though.

i think he's talking analogue tape, not casette's. i have recorded str8 from mpc to an old tascam tape machine. i mixed it using an old yamaha 32chan pa mixing desk someone picked up cheap. the eq's were also preetyy decent and added a certain sheen and warmth to the sound.

i came into the game using Fotsex 1/4 tape, then striaght to Mackie SoundScape Digital Mixing Console. I prefer that Fostex anyday! Just slower and i have to splice the tape to edit! lolol
