Yeah, they can read wav. I've loaded them into my friends 2k classic via "sloppy" before with no problem.

watch the length of the file names. I really don't know if the 2000 can load file names over 8.3 long

It's possible, it's possible.
Mine do it and if the name is longer than 8.3 it just cut the end of the name, it also can save them but only if you save them one by one, if you save them with the program the .wav would be converted to .smp...
ah... I've the 1.72 os but I rember it work also with the oldest version...

The MPC2000 reads WAV files fine - the problem is when you have a PGM created in the XL that was saved 'WITH WAV' rather than with SND files - the MPC2000 will still be able to load individual sounds, but it wont load them up if you load the PGM (the MPC2000 can only read SND files in PGMs, while the XL doesn;'t care what the extension is).

and only 16-bit wav...not 24

Imagine that I was editing tons of drum samples, then converting drum per drum to .wav files, and then wondered , when I finally loaded them to my mpc , that I just had set the rendering rate at 24-bit.

Yes it occurred, somewhere in Paris.

yo my friend tried to load one of my beats into his classic but apparently it can't look through folders like the XL does. it wouldn't have worked anyway 'cause the program was saved with wavs. good to know.
