a few mpc question

Ok I have a pretty long set of question. OK, I have a triton rack, motiff rack, mo phatt, roland xp-80, and emu vintage rack. I also have a akai mpc2000xl with a delta 1010 soundcard. My computer spec or 1.7 gig asus a7m266 mobo and 2 0 gig hard drives. I putting together a studio dedicated to hip hop and Rnb. I have been do track for a long time and I have aquired enough money to buy all my on equpipment so I can do it at my house and my own pace instead of borrowing someone else studio. OK........first Can you tell how would I hook all my equipment up to run to a computer software (cubase sx). I wnat my mpc to be the master I would like to be able to do it track for track midi so I could add effect and EQn to each one individually. (is this possible). SOmeone told me that I would have to have all the patches downloaded into the software to be able to do this.

Or would I have to sequence the whole beat into the mpc and then dump each track as audio into the software program, but if I do this how would I sync it together.


2) In recording with my mpc I want my mpc how would I acess all my different sound modules since my mpc on has two midi in and outs

Question #2 is easiier, to access all the modules create daisy chain of 1 midi out to the midi in then that items midi out to the next ones midi in etc.

this will allow one midi out on the mPC to run ALL the sound modules, triton etc.


now to use mpc as master, simply hook the other midi out into the PC w/ cubase and set it up so mpc is master and cubase is slaved.
now connect all the audio outs of the sound modules and MPC to a mixer or straight into your soundcard.

now, sequence the entire thing on the MPC, and when you press play the modules will all fire according to the sequence in the mpc, to record simply arm cubase and record, with the midi synced up you can lay down tracks that will be in step with each other.
once all the songs are laid down, apply ur effects.

sh*t, that's about 7 times as much gear as I have. But i'll give it try anyway.
i would like to point out that there's more than one way to hook this all up, and i'm not saying this is the best, this is just how i would do it.

1.Since your computer only has one midi-in, we'll use that to connect the MPC for syncing now. However, it's not wise to sync and play notes at the same time with just one cable. Run a set of cables from the mpc's stereo out, to the Delta. You can now play midi into Cubase, as well as sync and record.

2.Run midi-out from the keyboard to the MPC's midi-in. Run a pair of audio cables from your keyboard to the Delta. you can now play the mpc's sounds with your keyboard, as well as the internal sounds and record them.

3.the second midi out from your MPC goes into the first module, and from there on daisy chain them all together. Run all the audio outs to the soundcard again.
Profided you set your midi-channels right, you can now play all the modules from the MPC by setting up the right midi track. Or from the keyboard if you use it as a controller.

this will not give you midi tracks when recording in Cubase, but you can still add effects and eq to audio in Cubase so yo should be fine. If you want to edit midi notes in Cubase you'll have to use it as master and set it up completely different.
