Unresponsive pad...

Okay, I opened my 2KXL the other day to replace my note variation slider and thought everything was a go. I started hitting my pads and noticed that I wasn't getting any response from the top left one. So, I popped that sucker back open and noticed that the metal clip that makes contact with the plastic tape (I have no better way of describing it) was out of place in reference to the other clips. It was somewhat pulled up. So, I pushed it down and thought I was straight.

Wrong. I looked at the point on the tape where the clip makes contact and saw that it had been worn away (not the whole thing, but the contact point). So I'm not really sure if it's the whole section with the sixteen clips that needs to be replaced or the entire plastic pad itself.

But, that's not my biggest concern. I can deal with the pad not working because I can simply not assign any sounds to it. But what about older programs that already had sounds assigned to it. Will this affect the sequence. I'm thinking that the sequence should just contain the note data and won't really need the pad itself to function. Am I correct? If not, can I just assign the note number, which is 47, to another pad in another bank and use that as a work around?

yes, assigning a sounds to the pad sould play it in an existing sequence.

I'm thinking that the repair would be like upwards of a hundred. And I can get a good deal on a 1000, so I might just cop that rather than spending the money.

So, will the sound play even if I don't assign to sound to another pad?

You have any idea which one of those problems could be the culprit?

Cause if I can figure out which one it is, I might just buy the part and try to replace it myself (especially if it's just the clear pad).
