How do you sample to match the beat of a sequence?

Well, I've been doing a lot of practicing and I think I'm starting to know my way around this MPC thing....but today I found a sample on one of my Disks that I really liked....it wasn't just a one shot sample, but a little bit of a bass loop....anyway, I need to know how I can get it to match up with the temp/beat that I am using? Or, how do I find which beat/tempo that it matches up with? I'm trying to put together my first song with the combination of 4 different sequences and this part is my intro...but it doesn't quite match up right with my tempo.

Well, I use the 16 levels for the sample, and then match it that way, or chop up the sample and then use the 16 levels and punch it in one by one. I'm sure there are other easier ways to do it, but the 16 levels options has done me well on pretty much all of my beats. I know there is a way to figure out what tempo the beat should be at for the sample......I think what you do is in the edit screen set the sample up to loop, and then check the bpm paramaters for that sample, and it should give you the correct read out, but I don't have my mpc on to give the full step by step. I think I have tried that once before and didn't have much luck as the 16 levels.....o.k. just do the 16 levels. Have I mentioned 16 levels enough?...haha Good luck, and let us know if this works or not.

there's really only one way to do this: experimenting.
in the trim screen you can select the parameters tab and
you'll get some kind of clue to the bpm but at least in my
mpc it's never exactly on point. i usually put the sequence
playing with only the drums then go to the program screen
and play with the sample's tuning while the sequence
is playing until it matches.

What do you mean by the 16 step process? It sounds familiar but if you could fill me in I'd appreciate it. Plus, I've listened to your beats and they are great! How do you go about putting down your beats? Do u use song mode or do you work with one long sequence? I'm still trying to figure out different ways to to get it done, but I really liked your beats and would love some feedback on how you did yours.

For the 16 levels function, just hit the 16 levels button, and then choose the pad with the sound you want.
Then choose: note variation.
Then select: turn on
Now all of your pads will have the same sound, but at diff speeds. From there just match it to your current drum pattern/sequence. I'd record kicks, snares, highs all on seperate tracks for later editing and muting. I use song mode after making different sequences, and just load them up there.
