Monophony

HI was wondering how to make sounds trigger off in monophony on the drum pad with the 2000, interrupting each other.

any suggestion appreciated

go to program screen, press the pad you want to do this on,
go to parameters tab, change the 'poly' to 'mono'

actually sounds like you want pad 1 to cut off pad 2 and vice versa. this is useful on hihats for example. for that you go to the params screen and hit open window where it has poly/mono/note off and set it to note off the other pad/s you want that pad to mute. it takes a minute to set this up, but can allow you alot more realistic sounding beats and melodies in the long run.

Old thread, but anyway... I've been doing some pretty complex chopping lately and it would be easier to have simple monophony than performing some serious NOTE OFF acrobatics... Is there no way to accomplish monophony within a program? Is this possible on any of the other MPC models???

On the 2kxl it is possible.

shift+program-->choose pgm-->highlight the mono/poly tab on the bottom right corner-->open window--.choose the pad and then below choose the 2 ones you want it to mute when trigerred.

It takes some time but the ammount of detail is great, cause you don't always want everything to be triggered mono or poly.

Yeah-- that's what I was referring to with "NOTE OFF acrobatics." So I'm well aware of that function and it's the limitations of that very function that have got me on the lookout for straight-up monophony within a single program.

maybe just for live performance:
the mpc can not do mute over a whole program as far as i know, but you could make several tracks, go to the track mute screen and use the solo function or switch tracks on and off simultaneously. as long as you have recorded only short samples or longer ones with the note off parameter, that can sort of give you an altenative.

or probably better: you can make several sequences and then use the sudden function to get new ideas or in a live situation. of course that is not recordable as such.

ive tried that but it duznt seem to be showing me tha pads i wanna mute..ive done what it sez in the manual but to no avail...have i missed sumthin?

it was my down cursor...itz all good now !
