Hiccup

My MPC sometimes has a problem apon loopback where it has a slight hiccup or jump so the sequence doesn't loop back around smoothly. Does anybody know what's causing this. It doesn't do it all the time but it seems like the more tracks you add the more the risk of this happening increases.

Is there a difference in your BPM's, Bars, Tisg, etc among any of the sequences for the same song? If so check and that could be causing a off set loop. Also check to make sure you did not change the temp of the main mealody by accident.

Nah its the same sequence I'm not even it song mode yet. It happens when I'm still creating the sequence. I'm just adding more tracks to one sequence and all of sudden it doesn't loop back correctly anymore.

you need to leave a tail on your loops as the mpc cuts 30ms on loops. hence the gap your are describing. try sample a second of silence and insert this into the end of your loop.

are you using midi to sync other devices?

I have the same problem with the loop not syncing properly ...

check your adjustment between mpc and other device if you use
other devices with the mpc

Yes I'm using it with a Protues 2000 and a Korg TR. It happens with both peices so I'm pretty sure it's not cabling and it doesn't occur every time and it never happens right away. It's always after I get six or more tracks into it that it starts with the problem.

Are you filtering out Sysex data in the midi filter settings? Also, if you aren't using it, filter out aftertouch, I had a problem when I wasn't filtering sysex and aftertouch, I had been recording aftertouch data from my controller for tracks of synths that don't respond to aftertouch, very wasteful of seq memory.

That sounds like the problem.

yeah i've been having that problem lately and i've gotten an entire new motherboard installed by and expert in nyc that all the top producers i work with (i'm an engineer) recomended me...still doing the same thing...let me know if you fixed your problem....desperetly seeking help on this issue!!!!!!

Are you filtering systex? otherwise your every move is recorded, even when unecessary.

to be honest i don't even know what that is...i've been using the mpc since 97 and i've never had this problem....i've never changed anything but please explain how to do that....maybe it will work.

You got to go to the midi filter page, not sure how it's done on the 2k's, it's gotta be under midi, maybe hiding behind an open window screen.

In other words I need more RAM.

Well it should let you scrol through the different things, it'll say "Notes" then say something like "Pass event" "Yes" or something, go to where it says notes and scroll to sysex and change it to filter it, also aftertouch and change it to block event or whatever, I am working on a 60, so I don't know the exact terminology used on the 2k, but it should be similar.

If I want to use after touch on a track, I enable it to record the AT data, then disable it in the filter again so it doesn't record aftertouch for everything.

Look for midi input filter. It should be in the manual as well.

I found the midi filter part I didn't see sysex but I did see "Notes". The problem was there was a WHOLE lot of things I could turn on or off. What are the main things I should disable?
