digital out on mpc2000xl doesnt seem to be sending a signal?

i dont think that it will be my sound card as i have gone through every setting on the card and it seems to be ok.

but the problem i am having is that when i connect the digital out from my mpc into the "spdif in" on my soundblaster extigy soundcard im not getting anything through the speakers,as if the signal from the mpc is not flowing to the soundcard.

and when i plug the head-phones into the mpc "headphone" socket i can hear everything through the headphone.
i have managed to use it a few times this way and it usually plays whatever i play on the mpc through to the soundcard speakers.but now it doesnt seem to send any signals at all through the digital out.

do you have to enable the "digital out" on the mpc2000xl or something as i am not sure?

Is monitoring on in the software? What software are you using anyway?

There is no way to turn the S/Pdif output on the MPC on or off. It just always sends the main outs' signal.

yeh ive got the same problem, i think it can sometimes get fried if you plug the soundscards out into the mpc digi out. cause an overload or something. i got my mpc used and had never used the digi outs until, when i tried recently and had no success, but could get the spdif in going fine for sampling on the mpc.

Not sure off top cause I ain't used my 2000 too much as of late, but what about your output settings?? Have you tried setting the individual output of the pad to digital out or SPDIF?? I never really used the SPDIF out that much so I can't remember if it's always online from the stereo outs, or if you have to assign pads or outs to it specifically. I'd check the input setting of the receiving device as well and make sure it is set up properly. Got to be something simple....

Damn, now I remember! When I got my MPC (s/h), the S/Pdif input on the 8out board was out. I triple checked with other digital gear and cables etc, contacted the seller and he took back the board. I ordered a brand new one and had no troubles with that.

I just can't remember if I tested the S/Pdif output as well on that first board.

I'm still pretty sure there is no way to turn the S/Pdif output on the MPC on or off. It just always sends the main outs' signal. So you could very well have a board where the S/Pdif has gone out.

I'd still like to know:

Does the S/Pdif input on the MPC work? Have you tried hooking other digital gear up to the soundcard inputs?

Hey, and aren't the digital in/outs on an MPC2000(xl) AES/EBU as opposed to S/Pdif? It should work anyway, but only if the jacks are wired correctly.

There is a way you can control the volume of the s/pdif out. Go into mixer mode and select drum 1-4(whever your sounds are) and press open window. ON the left hand side it says stereo vol:100. That is where you control the output of your s/dif. You have to set each pad indivdualy.
