MPC2000XL "Wrong File Format" error.

I recently tried to save programs and sequences from a 2000 zip disk onto my 2000XL zip disk. The 2000XL zip disk did not have sufficient memory to save all of the sounds. I then opted to save them onto a new zip disk. When trying to reload the original disk with insufficient space, I came across a "Wrong File Format" notification. And with that, I am unable to load any of the folders that were previously on the disk; however, I know all of the saved information is still there because of the "20.7 M" of disk space on the "Save" screen.

Obviously, my primary concern is the ability to extract all of the previous saved folders. Is it possible to get my folders back? If so, please let me know. Thanks.

can`t help you man, as i`m dealing with same kind of difficulty myself
when i try to put some samples( 441000 hz wav, 16 bit ) on my mpc 2000 xl from my mac ( osx ), it gives an error / wrong file type, etc..

I saw a thread wich told, these files should be 44.1 khz and 16 bit...
Some are, but most of them aren`t... Is there a converter or a thing wich can solve this..

Any help will be great....

You can probably resave them with an audio program like Sound Forge and change the sample rate. I say probably because I'm at work and I can't verify this.

also make sure they are stereo samples. the MPC can only read stereo files when you load them from an outside source. If you want them to be mono after you load them into an MPC, you can convert them to mono inside the MPC.

If your samples are mono to begin with, use soundForge or coolEdit or whatever audio editor you have to convert stereo to mono so you can trransfer the files to the MPC.

In CoolEdit, you go to File Menu, choose "batch File convert" and add one (or a list) of samples to be converted, change the destination type to "Stereo" and click on "convert" and it will convert one (or several) samples from mono to stereo. then save to floppy/zip/CD/memory card, load as a stereo sample into the MPC, and either leave it as stereo, or convert to mono.

I have a bunch of George Bush audio samples I saved onto CD Rom as mono samples, saved directly out of CoolEdit.

MPC gave me an error message.

TOOK THE IDENTICAL LIST OF SAMPLES, DID A BATCH FILE CONVERT IN COOLEDIT, CONVERTED THEM TO STEREO SAMPLES, SAVED TO CD, AND THEY LOADED FINE.

This on my mpc2000XL mind you, I cant speak on other models.
