Custom Built Computer vs. MPC 2000xl

have an opportunity to get a custom built computer that comes with Intel P4 1.8 GHz CPU never over clocked, Mainboard, 4x AGP slot, Floppy Drive, CD Rom, CD burner, Soundblaster soundcard, 512 Memory, 40 gig Hard Drive, LAN, Windows XP Pro SP2, Sonar Producer Pro 4, Logic Audio Vegas Video/Audio 4, Acid 4, Neuedo, Cakewalk Project 5, Soundforge 7, Wave labs 4, T-Racks Mastering Suite, Waves, TC Native, Antares, and over 100 different Dx and VST Plug ins and Synchs, The software is all preloaded onto hard drive full Retail Version . The computer comes with Motherboard and Soundcard install disk only, no other disk comes with computer....can this totally replace my mpc 2000xl? i can but this computer for $450...my paln is to buy it and sell my mpc...is this a good idea?

If you can afford to keep the mpc,i definitely would do that.Computers crash and get bogged down and all.Unless you prefer software.But the mpc is a solid piece of gear and they don't depreciate in value.Now addin' a computer like that to your setup would be a huge advantage.IMO

great advice..the only thing is with the MPC..i would have to buy all kinds of other softwre to get my beats to a computer and / or disk...but with the computer..everything i make is already on the computer

True.... but what happens if your computer crashes?With the mpc all you need is sometype of outboard gear to store and then go to the studio to mix down.Because in the end you'll end up doin' that anyway.Unless you don't rhyme.THen you can just track your beats to some sort of outboard gear and let the emcee worry about the rest.After he's paid of course.

stay true and keep the mpc.... reliablility on the pc is a biatch! my pc has bullet holes in it i get so pissed off sometimes

man how can you even think of getting rid of your mpc. Its so easy to use you turn it on load some drums, then go to town. I like it because of this reason. No time spent doing unnessasary things.

like i said in the pm. if you like working with software but want to keep the mpc, research the mpc 1000. that might help you more
