Is my memory garbage?

I have an MPC 2000xl and haven't used it much.....while back I had problems with my monitors and stuff. Well today I sampled through it and the sample plays clear through the monitors when I am on the sample screen, but when I play it back it is all distorted and screwed up. When I shut it off also, it says "Detecting Memory" and pretty much freezes up on that or when I was loading the sounds. Does this sound like memory garbage or more? How could I test it?

try swapping the memroy to th other slots, slot 1 to 2 and slot 2 to 1. Make sure it is seated properly, then try.

Afterwards, try running the MPC on 1 stick of ram at a time to see which one is bad (it may be both, you never know).

You'll know which is bad after all of that.
