desperate for help

Hi, I have had no luck figuring out how to do an arrangement dump from my virus indigo 11 to my mpc 2000xl. As a result I am probably going to sell it. I have read the manual of the virus many times which by the way is really pathetic, On the arrangement dump page it tells you to look in the multi mode section for more info then in the multi mode section it says to look at the arrangement dump section, how ridiculous is that. I have followed all the steps correctly but when I play back my mpc it does not seem to be dumping the arrangement back to the virus. I understand that the arrangement dump in multi mode refers to addresses of singles used in the 16 parts aswell as all the edited parameters etc. So if I then dump all of that and use the same multi and change the sounds etc and redit them I presume that when I reload first song and press play that the addresses and parameters should be restored. But it is not. If anyone out there can please help especially if you are using the same gear I would be so grateful. I feel like I have wasted 3500 dollars on this synth and I cannot get it to do what it should so easily do. If I dont get any answers soon I have no choice but to sell and I will not be spreading a good word for access. The access forum site is full of people in the same situation as me.

I have the indigo II and the mpc2kxl but i don't use the 2kxl anymore because i have the 4k now.
First... What am i missing here? why is it so important to save by dumping? you could just save everything on the mpc and the virus and then load up the mpc and go to the correct multi, thats what i do and it works great.

There a lots of reasons to do an offboard dump, a good one is for a backup method. Let me guess, psitech, you don't backup your MPC files either?

ah of course... stupid me. well i do backup but its not so often, ever since i got the 4k i havent had a single crash when i used the 2kxl i had to do backups so often i could almost sense when it was about to crash

Exactly, If I just save in the virus then I have to overwrite whatever was in the slot where I save to. I dont want to do this as I want to keep what is there. Its not about whether or not the mpc will crash, its about saving my work and some singles to free up the memory of the virus. Also, regardless of whether I need to do it or not I want to know that I can do it if I want. I should have checked before I spent the 3 and a half grand, but I didnt. And now I have the dreaded feeling that the mpc aint capable of doing this sysex transfer. Ive read many threads and the manuals till Im blue in the face and I still have no answers so I guess the answer is 'no you cannot do it'. If I am wrong please tell me before I put either my virus or my mpc on the market.

there is a program called midi ox. use that to record your system exclusive dump to a midi file. put that midi file on disk and send it from the mpc in a sequence or as an initialization parameter.. go sell that virus. you dont need it..

You know I dont like your attitude, I cannot see a smiley or an LOL anywhere so I presume you are being aggressive. You know 'nano' not everybody is so proficient or so brilliantly knowledgeable as you in these matters so go easy on the sledging please, its offensive. You were a newbie once remember.( you obviously dont) So unless you have the time to explain things to me elaborately in a simple manner that a newbie can understand without the insults then dont bother.
I am happy to announce that I resolved the problem, it was something that I thought would have been one of the first things people might have suggested to check, perhaps it was too simple that noone thought I could be so stupid. It was embarassingly simple. I had midi rx disabled. I have spent three weeks worrying about this and one simple little thing like that and its fixed. Thanks to everyone that offered genuine help.
