Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I just inherited a G4 mac with a 1.4 ghz processor, 512 of ram which i will upgrade to a gig of memeory. I currently also have a mpc 2000, motif es6, along with some other modules. I want to intergrate this G4 into my setup, but i already invested in the VS 1880 which is currently my DAW. Will it be expensive to go the pro tools route/digital performer..What will i need and is this just money wasted and i should just go the hardware route..Any input would be appreciated..? Thanks

Forget the Pro tools for now, just use the Vs 1880 and learn that.I'm sure once you get the hang of it you'll love it.I almost sold mine(VS840ex)but i'm glad i didn't.The V series have effects and all that which can be a big help in the long run and can save you money because you won't have to buy all those external components.

With that and some good plug-ins and vst's for whatever program you use,you should be ready to go.

Oh no doubt..I'ave had my VS 1880 for about 2 yrs and ur right that box irreplacebale if u want to go the hardware route in terms of a DAW. Im still amaze by the 1880 every day.. At some point though for mixing down my tracks i would mind being able to do some editing or mastering down my finish product on 17 inch flat screen monitor.
I just dont want this G4 sitting on my floor collecting dust. It looks pretty as hell. But i guess what I have now works, i dont feel limited with what i have..

I hear you.You should probably run everything into the mpc to work and finish all your tracks on 1 machine. Then run the mp into the 1880.From the 1880 into the g4.THat way you can mix em down a little before you go into the 1880 and whatever software. In the long run it'll give you a more defined sound and more control of the mix.

You got that g4,put it to work.

Sounds like a plan..Thats preety much how i have things now..All modules, motief es, mpc routed as outputs in my patchbay. I have the VS inputs on the bottom of the patch bay so everything goes into my VS channels respectively. Also in the patchbay configuration ias my ART DPS and RNC compressor..So yes ideally it can go out of the VS into the G4.. i would think the proceesor speed can handle audio as well..Im going to do some research on interfaces and see what i need.. Thanks as always man!
